A joyful gift for a sad kid

I love gifts. More giving than getting. But I don’t like to shop for gifts. Or shop period. Hate it! I’m one of those annoying people that bring gifts you can’t return. I’m probably the one having more fun here. And now I’ve done it again. A girl I know is turning 11 in a couple of weeks and she’s kind of a sad kid. I’ve rarely seen her smile so I thought I should try to bring her some joy. That’s why I made a box for joyful memories inspired by the movie Inside out. She’s also getting tickets to go see it. It’s opening here a few days after her birthday. On the lid is a small sculpture of the character Joy that I made and painted. In the box is a bunch of yellow ping pong balls with a piece of paper inside on which she can write a joyful memory. I hope she’ll use it.
